Laboratory Services

Animal Care Center is equipped to offer a complete in house laboratory for such things as Complete Blood Count (CBC), Blood Chemistry Panel, Electrolytes, etc. We stock a wide range of test kits to allow us to quickly and accurately screen your pet for a variety of diseases. There are a variety of other in house laboratory equipment and procedures available to aid us in finding a medical problem as quickly as possible. We want to help protect your pet from illness and maintain the best health possible. If, however, your pet does become ill we want to get an accurate diagnosis as quickly as possible to avoid delays in healing.

There are many other laboratory services we offer that may be outsourced to other labs. The labs our clinic use are very reputable and have short turn around times for most tests.

Surgical Services

We offer a wide range of surgical services at Animal Care Center. We have state of the art monitoring equipment used on every patient to observe ECG (heart rate, rhythm, etc.), oxygen level, and blood pressure. We use safe anesthetic protocols and maintain patients under anesthesia with isoflurane gas anesthesia. Pre-anesthetic blood work is strongly recommended to assess liver and kidney function and to rule out underlying disease that may compromise the patient. IV catheters and fluids throughout surgical procedures are encouraged as they help to maintain hydration, provide quick access in the event of a rare emergency, and to help the patient recover more quickly and smoothly from anesthesia.

Pain medication is always strongly encouraged with any surgical procedure. Animals are not very obvious in their display of pain and hide it quite well. We need to anticipate their pain and prevent it. Ask yourself if you were having surgery, would you want pain medicine?

X-ray and Ultrasound

A thorough physical exam is always the best place to begin when evaluating a patient. Often an exam is not sufficient to adequately investigate a medical problem. X-rays allow us to check for a wide range of medical problems including fractures, arthritis, cancer, heart disease, lung problems, hip dysplasia, pregnancy, and much more.

Ultrasound is another diagnostic tool that can be used to look inside of organs for signs of disease, to check viability of developing puppies, and to obtain biopsies or other samples without surgery.

Boarding

You can travel away from home and feel secure in leaving your pets in our care. Our staff walks dogs twice a day and provides excellent care during your pet's stay. If your pet is on a special diet or medications bring them along with instructions and we will see that it is done. Dogs boarding with us are required to be current on DHLPPC, Bordatella, and Rabies vaccinations. Cats need to be current on FVRCP, Feline Leukemia, and Rabies vaccinations. If your pet has fleas it must be treated upon arrival. Feel free to bring toys, blankets, etc from home that may make your pet feel more comfortable while staying with us. You may drop off and pick up pets during normal business hours only.

Grooming

Grooming services are provided by Beverly Roberts on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of each week. Please call ahead to schedule an appointment for your dog or cat. Vaccinations are required to be current with grooming appointments and may be updated if needed.
