Clinic History

Animal Care Center was started by Larry Oliver, D.V.M. in 1969. Dr. Oliver retired in August of 2006 after practicing in the Stanford community for over 37 years. He sold his practice to Jonathan Alford, D.V.M.

Dr. Alford realizes that Dr. Oliver is a respected member of the veterinary community as well as throughout Lincoln and surrounding counties. He hopes to continue to serve this community by providing quality veterinary services for many years to come.

Jonathan Alford, D.V.M., received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University in Auburn, AL. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from EKU in Richmond, KY.

Dr. Alford is a Kentucky native born in Somerset and has lived in and around central Kentucky all his life with the exception of four years of veterinary school. His wife, Shelly is from Eubank. He and his wife are members of Fort Logan Church of Christ.

Dr. Alford and his wife have one daughter, Sharla. They are looking forward to raising their family in this community.

The Alford's have two dogs, Jet, a Border Collie, and Duke, A Boxer. Their dogs are members of their family and an important part of their lives. Jet goes to work with Dr. Alford every day. You may see Jet wander into the reception area to say hello or see him riding around in the passenger seat of his vet truck.
